Overview

The Factory has partnered with Chrissy Stragisher – the strength, conditioning, and agility coach for 7 years for San Antonio’s WNBA franchise – to put together a program at Factory of Champions available to young athletes to help ensure correct, most efficient form as they physically develop at a young age. This program has been constructed to help develop proper form and flexibility and prevent long-term injury in a fun, engaging environment while preparing your child for the coming Fall sports season.

Each week Coach Stragisher will focus on themes of Speed, Agility, Jumping/Landing, Strength, and Power. We are thrilled to be able to offer this critical development option to our Factory customers and better prepare your young athlete in ANY sport. We believe this is as important as any practice, game, or individual skill development.

The Challenge:

Lack of proper form or flexibility in foundational sports movement in young athletes can result in kids moving in inefficient patterns. The problem can start at early ages and is sometimes compounded by a lack of comprehensive physical education programs.

Between grades 3-6:

The most common examples of this challenge are improper running form, dramatic lack of flexibility, trouble balancing, and general challenges with traditional hand/eye coordinated movement. The overall reduction in ‘unstructured play’ further contributes.

Grades 7-9:

Athletes begin playing sports in a more structured setting than before, some of them in a year-round setting. If proper movement patterns haven’t been enforced, the incorrect ones are repeated time and time again which leads to overwear on the joints and muscles. If an injury doesn’t occur, some muscles become more developed than others which creates imbalances that further exacerbate the problem.

Historical Challenge:

Kids of this age are unlikely to enter into disciplined strength/agility development – attention spans are limited and it’s just not fun. We’d like to change that.
